Wood is a natural product. Its strength, the wide range of processing methods as well as its natural and unique nature make it one of the most used natural resources in the construction industry.
However, we have to remember that those natural properties of wood, weather conditions to which it is exposed cause certain limitations for its use.
Our products are manufactured only from coniferous wood (spruce, pine) coming from permanently grown European forests. Before its application, wood undergoes the drying process performed in drying chambers, which results in fewer cracks and reduction of the content of insect-attracting substances. Its humidity after this type of treatment is usually 15% up to 18%.
Wood, depending on the class of its surface, is subject to planing and milling processes, and any saw marks that may form on its surface are evened out and beveled.
Depending on a customer’s order, wood is covered with a primer, or varnish.
Covering our products with a primer requires further maintenance procedures, which remain the user’s responsibility.
Modern manufacturing methods and selection of material do not explicitly affect the below-described natural properties of wood and therefore, they cannot be subject to customer complaints.
Dear Customer, you should know that:
Depending on humidity, wood as a natural material, is characterized by volumetric changes: swelling, shrinking. When fitting wood tight (e.g. using the tongue-and-groove method), shrinking and associated appearance of holes in joints should be taken into account. Wood deformation oscillations: around 10%.
Wood changes its color
UV radiation in sunlight leads to ageing of wood surface.
By using an appropriate type of paint, it is possible to ensure a suitable color, however, it is not possible to guarantee uniformly distributed coloring of different types of wood.
The structure of wood is varied, which results in unevenly distributed processes of shrinking and drying out at the same time. Such processes result in appearance of cracks, scratches, warping, slight curvature and twisting. However, even a careful selection of wood material does not prevent this type of processes.
Wood has knots and a characteristic wood texture
Knots and wood texture are natural features and they may differ depending on the type and origin of wood, as well as conditions of growth. The number and size of healthy and strongly grown knots is not limited.
Appearance of resin leaks on coniferous wood is a natural process which we are not able to prevent. It also occurs on coated wooden elements, which reduces the esthetics of wood and is onerous. Such stains and leaks can be removed by users themselves, using e.g. a sharp tool or the right type of chemical agent.
Blue discolorations and mold may appear
Blue discolorations of raw wood usually take the form of stripes. The cause of this process is not harmful fungi, which do not affect structural properties. After proper impregnation, the process is stopped and it does not affect the strength of the material on which it appeared.
Visible irregularities appear
During wood processing in the area of knots, as a result of wood treatment performed against the direction of wood fibers, rounding up or lateral cutting, rough surfaces and small fraying may appear. Despite due care applied during processing and the use of the sharpest tools, this type of irregularity cannot always be prevented.
